  • A minimum amount of £1 is required to open, to a maximum of £1m per applicant
  • Same-day fund transfers
  • A variable interest rate guaranteed to at least equal the Bank of England's base rate (until 1 July 2013)
  • An interest rate that accrues daily
  • Interest credited to the account annually on 31 March each year
  • Annual statement issued in April each year

*Gross stands for contractual rate of interest payable before the deduction of income tax at the rate specified by law.

**AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year.

^ Net rates are the contracted rates of interest payable after deduction of income tax at the basic rate (currently 20% at 23 May 2011).
