If you don't know the PIN for your Allied Irish Bank (GB) credit or debit card, contact the relevant PIN Helpline and we'll send you a reminder. If you're worried about remembering your PIN try using some of the tips below.
Credit card PIN Helpline - (028) 9024 6104
Debit card PIN Helpline - 0800 389 6218
If you find your PIN hard to remember, you can change it at most UK cash machines - just select the 'PIN Services' option.
If you change your PIN, don't use numbers easily associated with you.
Avoid selecting obvious numbers or sequences that may be possible for someone else to guess. For example never use your year of birth, four identical numbers, or simple sequences like 1,2,3,4.
Random combinations of numbers are best and hardest for a criminal to guess.
When making a purchase you have three consecutive attempts to key in your PIN. To protect your card against card fraud, after three incorrect attempts, your PIN will be locked and you will not be able to use your card until the PIN is unlocked.
Just call the PIN Helpline on (028) 9024 6104 and we will send you a reminder of your PIN. When you receive your PIN reminder you will need to go to a UK cash machine and unlock it. Simply insert your card, enter your PIN, select the 'PIN Services' option followed by the 'PIN Unlock' option - your card will now be ready to use again.
(Please note that even if you subsequently remember your credit card PIN, you will still need to call the Chip and PIN Helpline to unlock it.)
If you have forgotten your PIN, contact us at the relevant helpline number and we will send it to you in the post.
UK Chip and PIN cardholders travelling abroad should increasingly expect to use their PIN wherever they pay.
